Social security for all Indian was a basic commitment by the Indian State to its people on the eve of Independence. While the constitution spells our various elements, the availability of contingent social security in India, heavily weighted in favour of Public employees and workers in the organized sectors. The vast majority of the world’s people who are the poorest live in the rural areas of the Third world. Most of them are engaged in agriculture earning a subsistence wage. They are poor, both relatively and absolutely. Development which all these years should have focused on the poor seems simply to have passed them by. Hence, the Association KATWA DREAM OF NEW AGE WELFARE SOCIETY since 2023, as an apex development Association in the KATWA Community Development Block of Purba Bardhaman District has been vitally interested in promoting programmes formation in rural & urban areas in the social welfare, people’s developments and allied sectors as in the non-farm sectors. Social welfare activity with accent on policy is also receiving attention from the Society. It has taken a number of new policy and promotional initiatives in the emerging area as model welfare project programmes, which have high potential in the thrust areas, like Family Welfare , Primary Health care services with sanitation and nutrition, Environment Education, women and child development, Agri-horticulture with Medicinal Plant cultivation development, Education under Sarba Sikha Avijan, Educational Coaching with Vocational Training, have been brought out for the implement of the society entrepreneurs and other agencies who are keen to promote implementation. The Society’s mission is to provide a better future to the most vulnerable section of Indian Society- women, children, youth, Adolescent, Disabled Persons and the aged and Sicks – by providing education, protection their health and environment, improving their living conditions and strengthening their family as well as the community.
Recent policy shifts towards welfare oriented economy and thrusts on policy have opened up immense possibilities for entrepreneur to promote hi-tech projects or programmes in the welfare sectors. New venture based on most advanced technologies are being set-up in welfare policy sectors with or without foreign collaboration. Financial authorities have to play a proactive and dynamic role as partners in the new developmental process that has recently been set in motion. In another aspect to develop the total welfare activity, universal health care and universal education, two great goals of social development are of fundamental importance to today’s children and tomorrow World. Adequate food, clean water and safe sanitation are still the three most powerful medicines in the world. An economic condition to guarantees that these needs will be met has, therefore, to be ensured. Health cannot be divorced from economic conditions and availability of basic services. But, it has been demonstrate in many countries and areas that it is possible to achieves health results in terms of higher levels of life expectancy and lower level of under five death rates even in a relatively backward economic situation of priorities in child death care are fixed up to prevent morbidity and mortality of millions of children.
Hence, a fundamental change, therefore, must occur in the existing health system. Within the new system, people must gain maximum control over their own health. Social Workers and other Medical Practioner must not be regarded as inferior to doctors, decentralization should occur as much as possible and traditional forms of medical care must be encouraged to take their rightful place. Alternative approaches to such a system may be numerous and the Society’s member circle encourages such explorations. Real success is inseparable from a strong popular movement of the peoples as well as the student and the youth too.
we cannot but look back at the year of our involvement with the rural masses. Sometimes we are taken back by the sheer dimension of efforts and resources needed to alleviate poverty and miseries of the suffering humanity. Our intervention are indeed a tinny drop in the vast ocean, still it that drop can quench the thirst of handful of oppressed and exploited. We will know that we have done something worth. Any how we are trying to the best of our knowledge to uplift the rural poor in order to mix them in the main stream of the life. Proper initiatives have taken to improve the socio-economic status of the people through different welfare measures. We also do not keep our eye blind about the rapid social change that will surely come to our help in the preparation of our near future.
